Informal, Explosive Painting marks an early transitional position within Felizitas Zechmeister’s current painting practice. Created in 2025 using acrylic paint on a 35 × 45 cm wood panel, the work explores colour as physical substance, the presence of the painted surface and the visible traces of the painting process.
The combination of white, grey and black remains open and gestural. Rather than depicting a subject, the work develops its effect through the interaction of colour, surface and material. In this respect, it anticipates the more focused investigations of colour, materiality and light that define the subsequent 2026 series.
The work therefore represents an important early point in the development from an open, informal painting process towards increasingly defined approaches to monochromy, material painting and spatial perception.

Informal, Explosive Painting markiert eine frühe Übergangsposition innerhalb der aktuellen Malerei von Felizitas Zechmeister. Die 2025 entstandene Arbeit in Acryl auf einer 35 × 45 cm großen Spanplatte untersucht Farbe als physische Substanz, die Präsenz der Oberfläche und die sichtbaren Spuren des malerischen Prozesses.
Die Verbindung von Weiß, Grau und Schwarz bleibt offen und gestisch. Anstelle einer gegenständlichen Darstellung entsteht die Wirkung aus dem Zusammenspiel von Farbe, Oberfläche und Material. Damit nimmt die Arbeit bereits zentrale Fragestellungen der späteren Werkgruppen von 2026 vorweg: Farbe, Materialität und Licht.
Die Arbeit bildet somit einen wichtigen frühen Punkt in der Entwicklung von einem offenen, informellen Farbprozess hin zu zunehmend präzisierten Untersuchungen von Monochromie, Materialmalerei und räumlicher Wahrnehmung.
