In the series “Earth – Black”, “Earth – Grey” and “Earth – Light Grey”, Felizitas Zechmeister combines raw earth with oil paint on canvas. Earth is not a depicted subject but a physical component of the painting. Its grain, density and relief respond to light and give the surface a tangible presence.
The reduced palette from black to light grey focuses perception on structure, materiality, light and surface. Earth and oil paint merge into a process-based pictorial body, bringing surface and volume, smoothness and roughness into tension.
The series moves between monochrome painting, material-based painting and abstract process. The canvas becomes not merely a support, but the site of a real material process.

In der Werkgruppe „Erde – Schwarz“, „Erde – Grau“ und „Erde – Hellgrau“ verbindet Felizitas Zechmeister rohe Erde mit Ölfarbe auf Leinwand. Die Erde ist dabei nicht Motiv, sondern realer Bestandteil des Bildes. Ihre Körnung, Dichte und Reliefstruktur reagieren auf das Licht und verleihen der Oberfläche eine körperliche Präsenz.
Die reduzierte Farbskala von Schwarz bis Hellgrau lenkt die Wahrnehmung auf Struktur, Materialität, Licht und Oberfläche. Erde und Ölfarbe verbinden sich zu einem prozessualen Bildkörper, in dem Fläche und Körper, Glätte und Rauheit aufeinandertreffen.
Die Werkgruppe bewegt sich zwischen Monochromie, Materialmalerei und abstraktem Bildprozess. Die Leinwand wird dabei nicht nur zum Bildträger, sondern zum Ort eines realen materiellen Prozesses.
